How to hang your Flying Trio:
Whether you've got Toucans, Pigeons, Cockatoos, Puffins, Owls, or Ducks, they all have the same instructions. Your Flying Trio is packaged with a handy instruction card to help you, but we thought we'd give you some more detailed instructions with pictures too!
1. Gather your tools: hammer, 6 nails, scissors, A4 paper, pen, tape, Blu-tack
2. Read over your instructions card.
3. Place each bird on your piece of paper and trace around them, then cut the shapes out.
4. Line up the cutout against the back of the bird, and punch holes using one of the nails in the paper where the two small outer nail holes are.
7. Hammer the nails through the guide holes, angling them upwards slightly. We usually use masonry nails for solid walls, please use suitable screws and plugs if you are hanging them on walls that have a cavity.
8. Check the position of each bird before hammering the next pair of nails. Always remember to remove each bird from the wall after you've checked their position and before you hammer the next pair of nails in. The birds might jump off the wall if you start hammering next to them! (especially if your walls are plasterboard).
9. Once all the nails are in the wall, remove the paper templates and hang each of the birds. Stand back and enjoy your new flock of flying wall art!
Now that we have the basics down, here are some tips for how to arrange and style your Flying Trio:
-
Select an accent wall: Choose a wall in your home that could use a bold and eye-catching focal point. This could be a living room wall, a hallway, or even a bedroom accent wall.
-
Arrange the trio creatively: Place the ceramic flying birds on the wall in an artistic and dynamic arrangement. Consider positioning them in a diagonal or arrow formation or in a way that suggests movement, as if they are truly flying across the wall. You can test where to position them using paper templates before you commit.
-
Choose complementary colours: Consider the existing colour scheme of the room when placing the flying birds. Ensure that the colours of the birds complement or contrast with the surrounding decor to make them stand out. Our Flying Owl Trios are great for a pop of vibrant colour, and they come in Burnt Orange, Pink, Teal Blue, and Jade Green.
-
Proper lighting: Illuminate the trio with lighting, whether that be spotlights or accent lights, to highlight the details and colours of the birds and cast some interesting shadows!
-
Maintain spacing: Ensure there is adequate spacing between each bird, so they don't feel cluttered. This helps maintain a sense of balance and prevents the wall from looking overcrowded.
We suggest you don't place them in a busy thoroughfare or somewhere that they can easily get knocked, but if you do have an incident, we do sell replacements in all sizes!
