Last Friday Dave and I went to a local screening of "The People's Emergency Briefing", a short 50-minute documentary on the climate crisis and what it will mean, designed to show an edited version for general release, in place of the one the government pulled at the last minute. I want to share my thoughts on watching it in the hopes that it might encourage my lovely readers to go and see it themselves!

MPs are invited to every screening to hear the evidence alongside their constituents. The film is intended as a catalyst for a wider public conversation and a stepping stone towards a live televised national briefing, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts, so that the whole country can be fully informed about the risks we face and the solutions available.

The aim is to put pressure on the government to properly educate the general public; it's a chilling film but one that we all need to see, to wake us up to what's happening, and also to empower us all a bit to make the changes that we can, and to also put pressure on our local MPs and councils to do more. It is also uplifting and inspiring, so don't be put off!

We all sat around and chatted afterwards, approx. 20 or so of us. It felt like preaching to the converted at points, but actually there were some really good takeaways and things I want to explore. I said I would share my checklist of things we did as a business about 5 years ago now. I felt that it was a tough subject to cover then, and I am not sure now whether it is any easier, but hopefully more people are aware that this is real, as we are amongst it this summer, wild fires burning, prolonged drought, crop failures, record breaking high temperatures, and as they said in the film "this is the best climate you will ever experience"

So I wanted to include it in this blog, as I feel it is my duty to talk about it and spread the word. Please do look for a screening near you.
