Plastic free products are non-negotiable at Hannah Turner!

As last month was Plastic-Free July, this is a gentle and timely reminder that our products are 100% free of single-use plastics, from the beautiful packaging to the ceramics themselves!

I have run a quick audit on my home life and business to see where simple swaps can be made. Plus, with this current heatwave, it's impossible to ignore that our natural world is changing and struggling under climate change.

To be clear, I never claim to be a 100% zero-waste business. The nature of ceramics production (and running a business in general) will involve some form of waste. But I guess we need to accept that this is the world we live in; waste and overconsumption seem to be the cheapest, most convenient options. However, I still endeavour to do what I can. It might sound like a cliché, but every single tiny bit really does make a difference.

I often think of the quote by Anne-Marie Bonneau:

"We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly."

All our packing boxes are made of recyclable cardboard, and to keep our designs protected in their boxes, we use recyclable decorative tissue paper and/or recyclable corrugated cardboard. Read more about our Net Zero journey here.

So whether you're auditing your own habits or searching for a thoughtful and sustainable gift, rest assured that every parcel leaving our doors is packed purely with paper, cardboard, and love- no single-use plastics in sight. Let's keep doing our bit together!

P.S. If you see packing peanuts in your box, don't worry- they are not polystyrene! Ours are made from 100% natural potato starch and are fully compostable (or you can just dissolve them under the tap!)
