Our evening attending a talk with WeCare founder, Janey Lowes and patron, Ben Fogle

Last Week, Dave and I attended an event in London to show our support for a charity very close to our hearts, WeCare Worldwide. We donate 5% of the profits from our Barklife Collection to this vital charity, so it was great to hear just what an impact all of your purchases have contributed to.

The evening was a lively chat between the founder of WeCare Sri Lanka, the amazing Janey Lowes and their charming patron, Ben Fogle. If you don't know much about Ben Fogle, he is a broadcaster, writer, and adventurer who presents an amazing program called New Lives in the Wild. You might have also seen him on Countryfile. He has a great passion for nature and humanitarian projects, too.

WeCare was set up in 2014 by vet Janey after she saw the plight of street dogs while backpacking in Sri Lanka (where many of our ceramics are made). Here's what Janey says on their website:

"Although there are an estimated 3 million of them, it's not the dogs themselves that are the issue. In fact, street dogs love their freedom and often have a safe place to sleep and a human guardian who feeds them. The real problem is that they don't have access to even the most basic of veterinary care."

"Roaming dogs have been a part of Sri Lankan culture for generations, and we’re not here to change that. This is why we put dogs back into their communities after treatment, wherever possible."

"With a steady stream of severely injured patients coming through our hospital, we need all the support we can get to ensure we're able to be in Sri Lanka for as long as the animals need us."

WeCare seemed like the perfect fit as a charity for us to support, and we've been donating to them for 4 years. Their story is quite remarkable! If you're a dog lover, please head over to WeCare Worldwide and take a look.

If you'd like to support this charity through the medium of ceramics, then head on over to our Dog Collection. And of course, you can donate directly to the charity here.

Anyway, we had a great night, and we tried not to fangirl over Ben too much (sorry Ben).
