Nostalgic essentials for Granny Chic fanatics!

Granny Chic is in, retro ceramics are here to stay!

This summer, we’re giving you full permission to embrace the nostalgic, kitschy world of granny chic, which seems to be quite popular nowadays. Think florals, doilies, hand-me-downs, and teatimes. To us, granny chic is an expression of taste, personality and a celebration of the 'make do and mend' ethos. Luckily, it seems like more people are getting on board! Hannah's daughter, Megan, has noticed a bit of a wave happening — her friends are all picking up crochet, collecting weird antiques, knitting, sewing, as well as wearing more flouncy, frilly stuff!

How can you get a bit of granny chic in your home?

Hannah also lives and breathes granny chic, and you can see this everywhere in her house and her Airbnb in France. Crochet, gardening, collecting beautiful objects, and home decorating are all passions of hers. Granny chic can use a mix of modern and vintage interiors to achieve a totally retro style home that is also unique to you, because it involves collecting things that connect to your personality, your memories, and your values! For example, Hannah has a few crochet 'granny squares' blankets that she made in some really lovely colours because they remind her of her childhood, and she believes in the power of handcrafting!

(We think this room might be on the extreme end of granny chic; it's not for everyone!)

When you think of granny chic, maybe you might think back to your childhood and how your parents or grandparents used to lay the table for tea with varieties of biscuits and an actual teapot!? Or how there was always a cosy throw to put over your knees in front of the telly.

Hannah's own granny chic-inspired creations...

Hannah’s designs are steeped in this love for nostalgia. Her Flying Wall Trios — a modern nod to the iconic flying ducks and all the retro 70s house interiors — have become a favourite with customers. Owls, Pigeons and of course, Ducks are the most popular in her collection. And inspired by her mum’s beloved lap dog, Poppy, she created the adorable Boston Terrier-ish Salt and Pepper set. Perfect for a Sunday roast or just looking cute on your shelf (yes, even as dust collectors).

And let’s not forget an underrated hero of the tea table: the Sugar Bowl, because granny would never let anyone spoon sugar straight out of the bag! Our beloved Peacock Sugar Bowls are finally back, too — just in time to add a pop of retro charm to your tea station.
